<span class ='lesser-infernal'>ABADDON</span>
**Role.** [[Infernal Hierarchy#Chancellor|Chancellor]]
**Classification.** [[Devils#Regizu|Noble Fiend]]
**Location.** [[Brathos]]
**True Name.** *Muriël*
Deep in the pressing jungles of [[Brathos]], within the strangling vines and poisonous fumes, sits a large pit of pure darkness. In this [[Abyss of Doom]] lurks Abaddon, the destroyer, ever plotting his revenge on his new liege. Originally the duke of [[Brathos]], Abaddon holds a heavy grudge against [[Dagon]] for dethroning him.
#### Description
Abaddon is a looming figure, often cloaked in a robe as black as the abyss he inhabits. Under his hood lies his cracked grey skin, as if sapped from warmth and life. Cut across his torso is a great scar. His face is adorned with black hair and two small silver horns. His silver eyes are able to see through even the darkest of places with no hindrance. Within his cloak Abaddon hides his two large wings filled with rotting feathers, yet still able to take flight. He is often depicted with a silver spike or dagger in his hand.
#### Personality
Abaddon is cold figure, exempt from any compassion. He holds only the calculating views of utmost optimization in his heart. However, he is not without emotion. If he feels injustice is being done or his plans are thwarted, he is very quick to anger and slow to lose a grudge. He acts with a brutal totality, ensuring his enemies have precisely no chance of survival before moving on.
#### Abilities
Outside of his prowess with his silver spike, Abaddon isn't afraid to attack with his claws and brute strength if the situation calls for it. Furthermore, his presence makes light crawl back inside its flame whenever he draws near, able to dim even the light of [[Ellathin]] himself. His silver eyes are immune to the darkness, being able to perceive everything with clarity even in the darkest of places.
#### History
Originally a [[Celestials#Seraphim|Seraphim]] of [[Asmodeus|Gilgalan]] known as Muriël, he was a loyal and devout servant to the tennets of honour. However, after the final decree of [[Ellathin]] after the [[God Slaying]] he could no longer contain his anger at the perceived injustice of the situation. In his rage, Muriël tried to smite down [[Ellathin|The Allfather]] himself. As punishment for his actions, [[Ellathin]] drained Muriël from all light and warmth, making him live in eternal darkness.
After the casting out of [[Asmodeus|Gilgalan]], Muriël followed his master into [[Ember's Rest]]. As one of the original fighters of the battle, the sight of the immense destruction angered him even more. He vowed to serve his master, now called [[Asmodeus]], whatever the tasks that lay ahead. In his devotion, [[Asmodeus]] crowned Muriël as the duke of the second [[Soul Engines|soul engine]]. He headed to the location of his new domain and dubbed himself Abaddon, doom of the wrathful. He dug out his [[Abyss of Doom|abyss]] and covered the rest of the level in a thick jungle, with a canopy through which even the light of the hellfire around them couldn't pierce.
During his rule as the duke of [[Brathos]], an up and coming [[Devils#Excruciarchs|Excruciarch]] known as [[Dagon]] quickly rose the ranks through her insane bloodlust and wrath. Seeing her brilliant performance, Abaddon foresaw the potential and efficiency of her ideas and instated her as the [[Infernal Hierarchy#Chancellor|Chancellor]] of [[Brathos]]. This decision was soon to be his own undoing. As master of the hunt, Abaddon was mainly busy with arranging the brutal hunting of the souls of the damned. This gave [[Dagon]] the opportunity to sneak away from [[Brathos]] and ask for audience with [[Asmodeus]] himself.
After her ideas were accepted, [[Asmodeus]] promoted [[Dagon]] to duchess of [[Brathos]] and dethroned [[Abaddon]]. Wrecked with anger, Abaddon lashed out against [[Dagon]], but the devil was too strong for him. Defeated and enraged, Abaddon took the position of [[Infernal Hierarchy#Chancellor|Chancellor]] and slinked back into the darkness of his [[Abyss of Doom|abyss]]. There he sits still, plotting his revenge on [[Dagon]], only showing his face for the [[Huntsman Games]].
