#### Crustillian traits
As a crustillian, your body is formed by the dark pressures of your environment, granting you the following traits.
_**Ability Score Increase.**_ Your Constitution score increases by 2
_**Age.**_ At birth, the crustillians have a soft shell. Their shell hardens at the age of 2, which is when they are perceived as adults. Most crustillians live to be around 160.
_**Alignment.**_ The relentless environment of the deep ocean usually doesn’t leave much time for empathy and altruism. Most crustillians tend towards a neutral or evil alignment. Their isolation and distrust of others bring them closer in alignment with chaos.
_**Size.**_ An average crustillian stands between 5 and 6 feet, though the largest amongst them can grow to well over 6 feet. Your size is Medium.
_**Speed.**_ Your base walking speed is 30 feet. You also have a swimming speed of 20 feet.
_**Amphibious.**_ You can breathe air and water.
_**Natural Armor.**_ Due to your shell and the shape of your body, you are ill-suited to wearing armor. Your shell provides ample protection, however; it gives you a base AC of 17 (your Dexterity modifier doesn’t affect this number). You gain no benefit from wearing armor, but if you are using a shield, you can apply the shield’s bonus as normal.
_**Sunlight Sensitivity.**_ You have disadvantage on attack rolls and on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when you, the target of your attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in direct sunlight.
_**Superior Darkvision.**_ Accustomed to the dark trenches of the ocean, you have superior vision in the dark. You can see dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
_**Languages.**_ You can speak, read, and write Common and Mare.
_**Subrace.**_ The clade of crustillians can be split into two known types, each having their own biological advantages: Stalker and Sifter Crustillians.
###### Stalker Crustillian
As a stalker crustillian you move through the pitch black water with grace, only being spotted if you wish it. With your textured shell and your bioluminescent patterns you are the perfect ambush hunter of the deep.
_**Ability Score Increase.**_ Your Dexterity score increases by 1.
_**Textured Shell.**_ While you remain motionless, you are indistinguishable from a rocky surface. You are automatically hidden when standing still amid other rocks or stone surfaces.
_**Luring Pattern.**_ Your shell contains a hypnotic pattern which can emit a pulse of light. As an action, while you are hidden, you can target a creature within 60 feet of you with your pattern. The target must make a DC 12 Charisma saving throw, or be enticed to walk towards you or as close as they physically can.
###### Sifter Crustillian
As a sifter crustillian nothing can budge you from the path you choose to tread. Nature has given you the means to weather almost all dangers by bulking your shell to a near indestructible state.
_**Ability Score Increase.**_ Your Strength score increases by 1.
_**Shell Defense.**_ You can cover yourself with your shell as an action. Until you emerge, you gain a +4 bonus to AC, and you have advantage on Strength and Constitution saving throws. While in your shell, you are prone, your speed is 0 and can’t increase, you have disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws, you can’t take reactions or actions, and the only bonus action you can take is to emerge from your shell.
_**Survival Instinct.**_ Due to the constant living in peril, you have a sharp honed survival instinct. You gain proficiency in the Survival skill.
