During your travels, you will stumble upon many interesting plants and fungi. Some will be dangerous and hostile, others will be highly magical. Most are useful. While out in the wild, you can choose to forage for ingredients used in crafting, alchemy, and herbalism. Some plants you find might even have a stand alone uses, which you could apply during your adventure. Foraging uses either a player's *Survival* or *Nature* skill. They are allowed to choose which one they want to use. Depending on the terrain the player is currently in, they are subjected to find different types of ingredients. Look at the *Terrain Charts* below to see what ingredients can be found in which terrain. To forage for ingredients, a player makes a *Foraging* check using either their *Survival* or *Nature* skill. The DC of this check is based on whether the player is dedicated to searching in a specific area, or if they are foraging while traveling. If the player succeeds their *Foraging* check, the DM rolls on the terrain chart to see which ingredient they have found. If the player has rolled a natural 20 on their *Foraging* check, they instead gain 1d4 ingredients. For each ingredient, a separate roll on the terrain chart is made. | Traveling Pace | DC | | :---------------------------- | :-: | | Stationary search in the area | 12 | | Traveling at a slow pace | 15 | | Traveling at a normal pace | 18 | | Traveling at a fast pace | 21 | Rangers gain advantage on their *Foraging* check if they are foraging in their preferred terrain. In addition, they gain double the ingredients from foraging in their preferred terrain. ###### Ingredient Costs The terrain charts show the cost of the ingredients. These aren't the prices that the herbs would cost in a store, but the cost offset these ingredients have when used in alchemy, crafting, or herbalism. A general store probably would not pay more than a handful of gold coins for a sack of random plants. However, if the players manage to find an alchemist or herbalist, they might pay a fair price for your harvest. ### Terrain Charts ###### Arctic Terrain | d20 | Ingredient | Rarity | Cost | | :---: | :------------- | :-------- | :-----: | | 1-6 | Frostbell Root | Common | 20 gp | | 7-11 | Teardrop | Common | 30 gp | | 12-14 | Cinder Flower | Uncommon | 100 gp | | 15-17 | Regana | Uncommon | 100 gp | | 18-19 | Goliaths Thorn | Rare | 200 gp | | 20 | Eversnow | Very Rare | 1000 gp | ###### Coastal Terrain | d20 | Ingredient | Rarity | Cost | | :---: | :------------ | :-------- | :-----: | | 1-6 | Blue Krall | Common | 30 gp | | 7-11 | Seaweird | Common | 50 gp | | 12-14 | Red Krall | Uncommon | 80 gp | | 15-17 | Mirror Urchin | Uncommon | 80 gp | | 18-19 | Cloud Sponge | Rare | 200 gp | | 20 | Siren's Pearl | Very Rare | 2000 gp | ###### Desert Terrain | d20 | Ingredient | Rarity | Cost | | :---: | :---------------- | :-------- | :----: | | 1-6 | Aurun Cactus | Common | 30 gp | | 7-11 | Sunhead Berry | Common | 30 gp | | 12-14 | Firefruit | Uncommon | 50 gp | | 15-17 | Lily of the Sands | Uncommon | 100 gp | | 18-19 | Chamelea | Rare | 100 gp | | 20 | Serpent's Vine | Very Rare | 500 gp | ###### Forest Terrain | d20 | Ingredient | Rarity | Cost | | :---: | :------------ | :-------- | :----: | | 1-6 | Nurse's Kiss | Common | 20 gp | | 7-11 | Hollostem | Common | 30 gp | | 12-14 | Pinksprout | Uncommon | 80 gp | | 15-17 | Warlocks Wart | Uncommon | 100 gp | | 18-19 | Druid Tongue | Rare | 200 gp | | 20 | Psilladonna | Very Rare | 500 gp | ###### Grassland Terrain | d20 | Ingredient | Rarity | Cost | | :---: | :----------- | :-------- | :-----: | | 1-6 | Tara Fern | Common | 20 gp | | 7-11 | Crawler Leaf | Common | 50 gp | | 12-14 | Spider Bane | Uncommon | 50 gp | | 15-17 | Slumber Cap | Uncommon | 80 gp | | 18-19 | Rattail | Rare | 300 gp | | 20 | Black Rose | Very Rare | 1000 gp | ###### Mountain Terrain | d20 | Ingredient | Rarity | Cost | | :---: | :--------------- | :-------- | :-----: | | 1-6 | Coalheart Flower | Common | 30 gp | | 7-11 | Gallena | Common | 50 gp | | 12-14 | Mountain Shield | Uncommon | 80 gp | | 15-17 | Arch Buckle | Uncommon | 100 gp | | 18-19 | Eagle Leaf | Rare | 500 gp | | 20 | Dragonfire | Very Rare | 1000 gp | ###### Swamp Terrain | d20 | Ingredient | Rarity | Cost | | :---: | :------------- | :-------- | :----: | | 1-6 | Thieves Nibble | Common | 50 gp | | 7-11 | Purple Dapper | Common | 30 gp | | 12-14 | Damproot | Uncommon | 80 gp | | 15-17 | Slime Leaf | Uncommon | 100 gp | | 18-19 | Ghost Berry | Rare | 500 gp | | 20 | Hag's Eye | Very Rare | 500 gp | ###### Underdark Terrain | d20 | Ingredient | Rarity | Cost | | :---: | :------------ | :-------- | :-----: | | 1-6 | Glowshroom | Common | 30 gp | | 7-11 | Spike Hat | Common | 50 gp | | 12-14 | Greyvine | Uncommon | 100 gp | | 15-17 | Spore Trail | Uncommon | 80 gp | | 18-19 | Flay Petals | Rare | 500 gp | | 20 | Death's Bride | Very Rare | 1000 gp | ### Flora ###### Frostbell Root *Root, Common* The small icy blue bells of the Frostbell flower thrive in the icy environments of the tundra. Their small bloom hide their network of thin, almost thread like, roots. These roots are the mainly used to make healing poultices. ###### Teardrop *Fruit, Common* These gray, droplet shaped berries grow on the weeper's bush. They are tough and dry little nuggets, having lost all moisture to prevent bursting in the intense cold. When crushed up, these berries form the basis for a reliant poison. ###### Cinder Flower *Flower, Uncommon* This tiny, faded orange flower is often difficult to spot due to its size. Luckily, its roots excrete a substance that heats the ground around the flower to help it survive the cold. These small spots of defrosted dirt in the patches of snow are a telltale sign of a Cinder Flower. The petals of the flower can be steeped into a tea which can energize its drinker. ###### Regana *Flower, Uncommon* Known as the Queen's Bloom, this dark red flower grows in an unusual circle pattern emulating a crown. In Goliath culture, Regana is often planted around the tombs and resting places of royalty. A rare compound in the sap of the flower enhanced mental capacity. ###### Goliaths Thorn *Lichen, Rare* This pale green lichen grows in giant slabs on the ground wherever there is moisture and exactly the right temperature. It grows tiny and durable stalks, akin to a porcupines quills, which contain a deterring sap against predators. When this sap is concentrated it results in a very persistent poison. ###### Eversnow *Flower, Very Rare* This flower seems to reflect even whiter than freshly fallen snow. It is almost impossible to spot against the snowy backdrop of the permafrost on which it grows. The flower seems to radiate an aura of pure frost, lowering the temperatures in its surroundings even more. (SPECIAL USE) ###### Blue Krall *Plant, Common* This stocky plant grows in the tidal pools around the coast. Its waxy overcoat protects it from drying out once the water recedes. Though mostly used in gastronomy and food, its creamy sap can be refined to a compound that works wonders at neutralizing a myriad of toxic substances. ###### Seaweird *Plant, Common* This broad leafed seaweed grows around itself, creating a large round sphere. When dried out, it is a salty snack often enjoyed by children. However, its most prominent use case is in alchemy as the main ingredient in potions of water breathing. ###### Red Krall *Plant, Uncommon* Kin to its blue variant, red krall is more difficult to find, growing only rocky cliffs and reefs near the waters edge. Unlike its cousin, red krall is highly damaging to creatures as a special compound in its seeds causes the brains visual cortex to shutdown temporarily. It is sought after by unsavory folks trying to create Malice. ###### Mirror Urchin *Coral, Uncommon* Though this ball of spikes looks similar to sea urchins, it is in fact a type of coral. Mainly recognized by its reflective sheen on its skin, the mirror urchin has the strange property to blend in to the creatures surrounding it, by mimicking anything that pricks itself on its spikes. This property can be utilized by cunning adventurers for a slight advantage. ###### Cloud Sponge *Coral, Rare* This rare sponge grows between the cracks of warm water reefs. It has a slightly transparent pale yellow tinge to it. The sponge filters any water passing through it, flooding it with a special enzyme. If the sponge is collected and wrung, this enzyme rich water can be refined and enchanted to make a potion of gaseous form. ###### Siren's Pearl *Coral, Very Rare* The siren's pearl, similar to a normal pearl, grows inside of another creature. It is found in a type of coral which forms a calcified layer of protection around it. Inside the layer, the coral grows intricate stems of tissue. This process releases a side product which slowly coalesces into a pearl-like bead. Though it does not necessarily have a lot of uses, it is highly sought after as a rare item of great value and status. ###### Aurun Cactus *Plant, Common* These small round cacti sustain themselves with a reservoir of viscous liquid stored within the plant. This thick milky substance is highly flammable and, when mixed properly with oil, coats and ignites easily. With some basic enchantments, it is the perfect base for Alchemist fire. ###### Sunhead Berry *Fruit, Common* The small yellow berries of the Sunhead bush grow in intricate shapes. The roots of the bush require shade, growing in any crevasse or shelter it can find within the desert. The berries however, require a lot of sunlight to ripen, causing the plant to grow its stalks out of its shaded spot. The hard berries can be ground up into a powder, which induces a slight sedative effect when imbibed. ###### Firefruit *Fruit, Uncommon* The firefruit grows on blazing cacti. These tall branching plants have a fire red color, with their barbs painted a faint yellow. The fruit is quite delicious when properly prepared. However, the oval shaped fruits are hollow inside, where a incredibly hot liquid is stored. If the fruit raptures too violently, the boiling sap is sprayed around uncontrollably. ###### Lily of the Sands *Flower, Uncommon* This delicate white flower grows on the borders of small oases and exudes a slight sweet fragrance. The pollen of the flower causes a soft drowsy that can be amplified into a powerful narcotic, capable of knocking warhorses unconscious. ###### Chamelea *Flower, Rare* This beige flower is incredibly difficult to spot between the rocks and crags of the desert. It grows low and small carpets of tan petals across the barren outcrops of rock. However, when the petals come into contact with water they reveal their true potential, as their brown color splits up into a rainbow gradient that shifts in the refraction of the light. ###### Serpent's Vine *Plant, Very Rare* These thick, coarse vines grow between the soft sands of the dunes, coiling their way around any obstacle. When the vines are ground into a paste, they can enhance someone's ability to hold on and grapple objects. ###### Nurse's Kiss *Flower, Common* This small flower grows in damp grasses. When in bloom, they sprout pale pink petals which mimic the shape of a mouth. These flowers are the most common material in making healing potions. ###### Hollostem *Root, Common* ###### Pinksprout *Fungus, Uncommon* ###### Warlocks Wart *Fungus, Uncommon* ###### Druid Tongue *Plant, Rare* Often smoked, induces a meditative and subdued state ###### Psilladonna *Flower, Very Rare* ###### Tara Fern *Plant, Common* ###### Crawler Leaf *Lichen, Common* ###### Spider Bane *Plant, Uncommon* ###### Slumber Cap *Fungus, Uncommon* ###### Rattail *Flower, Rare* ###### Black Rose *Flower, Very Rare* ###### Coalheart Flower *Flower, Common* ###### Gallena *Root, Common* ###### Mountain Shield *Fungus, Uncommon* ###### Arch Buckle *Nut, Uncommon* highly psychedelic nut ###### Eagle Leaf *Plant, Rare* ###### Dragonfire *Flower, Very Rare* ###### Thieves Nibble *Plant, Common* ###### Purple Dapper *Fungus, Common* ###### Damproot *Root, Uncommon* ###### Slime Leaf *Lichen, Uncommon* ###### Ghost Berry *Fruit, Rare* ###### Hag's Eye *Fungus, Very Rare* ###### Glowshroom *Fungus, Common* ###### Spike Hat *Fungus, Common* ###### Greyvine *Plant, Uncommon* ###### Spore Trail *Fungus, Uncommon* ###### Flay Petals *Lichen, Rare* ###### Death's Bride *Flower, Very Rare*
