*Tome, Artifact(requires attunement)* **** *Aliases:* The Blackroots, Oath of Firm, Toran Studak This book can't really be called a book at all. It is a collection of four stone tablets, bound together by great metal rings. The longer you hold the tablets, the heavier they appear to become. The tablets are carved with increasingly complex runic symbols. The first tablet appears to be written in true runic, but the latter tablets are further into a subset of compound runes that are ever more difficult to decipher. It takes 25 rests to completely decipher all the tablets. Each tablet deciphered counts as a different tier and brings with it its own effects. The book is written in an obfuscated dialect of true runic, which can be deciphered by creatures knowing the Giant or Dwarvish languages. **Tier I (1 / 25 rests).** The first tablet seems to tell a story about the endurance of a personification of the ground itself, surviving a multitude of floods, quakes, and impacts. The story is quite simple, almost like a fairy tale, but something about the grounds resilience is captivating. *Enduring Earth.* When you reach this tier of the book, you can instantly roll one additional hit die to increase your maximum hit points. The rules for this roll are the same as if you were gaining hit points during a level increase. **Tier II (10 / 25 rests).** The second tablet tells the story of a biography about a tribal guardian. The tales of the life of this being fill you with a strange sense of pride. Their unwavering stance, like a wall, warding their home from any invaders; It is a beauty to behold. Your skin seems to have turned into a stiff leather, unwavering in its own right. *Bullwark Hide.* You gain resistance to non-magical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. **Tier III (20 / 25 rests).** The third tablet talks about the mountain, unmoving and stable. No matter what the world throws at the mountain, it is the paramount example of withstanding, even daring time to a stand-off. You feel your stance shift to mimic the broad stability of the mountain. You notice how colour starts to drain from your vision, draping your view in a sepia filter. Your skin loses its colour too, starting to crack ever so slightly. *Mountain Stance.* As a bonus action, you can anker yourself in place as you harden your stance. Your speed becomes 0, but you gain resistance to every damage type. When you enter this stance, you can choose a creature within 5 feet of you to anker with you. The creature must make a Strength saving throw with a DC of 8 + your Strength modifier + your proficiency bonus. If they fail the saving throw, they become restrained while you are in this stance. They can repeat the saving throw at the end of their turn to end the effect. You can exit the stance as an action or bonus action. *Slow and Steady.* Your movement speed is permanently reduced by 10 feet. **Tier IV (25 / 25 rests).** Stone weathers all, this the final tablet shows you. To endure even the greatest pressures, you yourself must harden both mentally and physically. Become unwavering. Unmoving. Let even the cries of a grieving mother move you none. Let each emotion wash off you like the rain on the mountainside. Let all but the hard remove itself from your life. You shun your feelings as both your skin and heart turn to stone. *Unmoving.* You have *disadvantage* to Dexterity checks and saves. *Stone Weathers All.* Your Constitution score permanently increases by 2.
