### Recap
Though the first delve was somewhat a success, our delvers barely made it back with their lives. Though with the experience of the Oni and the Angler under their belts, they are more equipped to fight off the terrors of the spire. But aren't they becoming too cocky...
### Summary
During the night resting at the base camp, our brave delvers were abruptly awakened by an ominous screeching sound. After cautiously investigating the sounds, they saw that a small group of delvers was engaged in a fierce battle, protecting a giant, strange piglike being from an aggressive swarm of screecher birds. It quickly became clear that this was a phoenix ox, and our delvers had gotten the rare chance to witness its ritual of rebirth. While Yenni eagerly collected the glistening crystal carapace of the phoenix cocoon, Storgøt, guided by instinct, shot into the darkness to ensure the newborn piglet was safe. With luck and agility, our delvers returned safely to the camp before the creatures of the night in the voidspire could grab them.
The next morning, our tired delvers awoke. After a short and informative conversation with the wise Goblini, they went to the main entrance to explore the western side of the glade. After walking for about 10 minutes, they discovered a dark cave. Inside, they found a dying half-elf. Despite their best efforts, the delvers could not save the half-elf, and unintentionally awakened the terrible inhabitant of the cave: the Maneater.
After a short, but fierce confrontation with this horrible monster, the delvers continued their journey south, despite the ominous SUDU TIKKI warning from the goblins. They had to wade through a dense field of thorn bushes, which Yenni reluctantly did not set on fire just yet. However, after crossing the thorn bushes, he did set them on fire. This caused a swarm of screeches to attack the group.
Thanks to their innovative nouveau bag of holding climbing techniques, our delvers managed to climb the plateau to the Taintwood forest. Soon they felt the sinister presence of a dark power that reigned over the forest. After sharp observations by Scipio, the delvers ventured into the forest, carefully avoiding the places where the tree roots refused to grow. This ground seemed to react almost like a kind of liquid, but with very strong surface tension. Traveling deeper in the woods, the party noticed a pack of horned goblins trailing them from the canopies. Storgot did what he does best and fed the goblins some of his rations. Deeper within the forest they discovered the bodies of previous adventurers, recently deceased.
Before they knew it, they were attacked by a wraith, who summoned specters from the bodies of the fallen adventurers. Despite their brave fight, the delvers could not save Scipio from his inevitable demise. His rest was not granted to him. The wraith pulled his soul from the Eternal Plane and awakened him as a specter. Forced to kill the spirit of their friend, the now incomplete delvers quickly returned to the base camp, with only 1 and 2 hp.
After dodging a pack of wolves and a group of screeches, Yenni and Storgøt returned to the camp, where they buried Scipio with the help of Nilla, holding a moving ceremony in honor of their fallen friend. Storgøt ventured out of the void to sell their phoenix carapace and other loot. With a new connection in the Brightplumes and a friendly dwarf with legendary ancestors, Storgøt returned to the void with full pockets.
Once back with Yenni in the camp, Storgøt met a giant person. They soon learned that this being would be a valuable asset to their delvers adventures, and it seemed that this figure was also looking for people to travel with. Thus they found their next delver: Karnarr the Relentless.
