The Beginning 16-10-2022 ### Summary On the 2nd of Birdsong, 2394, through the rain drenched windows of the Hall of Beds we find a small tavern room filled with stray farmers, old folk sheltering by the fire, and 5 peculiar figures; Professor Marshall Layton, a detective extraordinaire. Micra El Salvador, a proud paladin from the west. Goryn Glowcheeks, a young adventure-seeking pale skin. Snïgg Snögg, a cleric escaping the invaders of his home. Maxim, a mysterious wizard in hiding. Together they find themselves drawn to each other. Specifically, they find themselves in Micra's cause of freeing the west mesa from the clutches of the organized bandit guild known as the Pillagers. Though feeling a bond, the travellers have little time to rest as suddenly a outworn pale skin bursts into the tavern. The pale skin, known as Gnath Rockbeater, cries out in help as the daughter of the farmer, Helena, has been kidnapped by a group of roaming goblins. Though the young son of the hunter jumps into action, he is unskilled and unsure as he has never hunted goblins before. The party decides to help to spare the kid and save Helena from the goblins clutches. Tracking the goblins through the rain was easier than expected due to the copious amount of mud. Following the trail from the farmers plots to the Boar forest north of Ockby the party found themselves in the deep brush of the woods. After a long trek, the party arrives at a large clearing in the woods. Thinking the goblins have holed up in a ruin in the centre of the clearing, the party splits up and moves around both sides of the circumference of the clearing to case the location. Before they could meet up, the professor spots quick movement through the clearing. The party was ambushed by the guarding goblins, who quickly shoot their arrows and try to dart into the temple. Luckily, the party managed to kill each of the goblin scouts before they could warn the others. After a short rest to recuperate from their wounds, the party deliberates how to enter the ruined temple without losing their overhand to the goblins. The plans quickly stop when Snigg throws down one of the goblins bodies down the stairs of the temple ruins. Trailing down the stairs, the party readied themselves for the forthcoming clash with the goblin forces. However, none could have prepared for what they would find. The goblins were led by a fierce and strong Spinecleaver, which was not to be trifled with. Eventually, the party was able to push back the forces and barricade themselves within the chancel. While resting and examining the temple, the party found themselves in the old ruins of the tomb of the Delian knights, an old order of holy warriors fighting a force of evil in the name of saint Deliah. After a short rest, the party ventured onwards towards the tombs. Skilfully dodging a trap, the party set up an ambush to stop the ritual sacrifice of Helena to a being called Koth. Though successfully stopping the ritual and saving Helena's life, the price was high. Snigg Snogg lost his life to a Spinecleaver's devestating blow, while two other party members were knocked out. Exploring the tomb further, the party found the relics of Brutus Invictus. Both his sword and amulet found their way into the hands of Isembard. After laying Snigg Snogg to rest in the tomb next to the knights, the party collected their thoughts and prepared their track back to Ockby. Carefully escorting the knocked out Helena back to the village, the party brought their comrades and Helena to Leora Lewin, the local herbalist, to help ail their wounds. Here they encounter a monk called Smonk, who had been following the visions of Snigg Snogg's death. Helena fully recovers and the party is rewarded and celebrated for their achievements. The peace isn't to last though, as early in the morning the party gets interrupted by Jack Woodwarde, the young kid they stopped from going after the goblins. He mentioned that his smaller brother didn't come home last night and wondered if the party could go out to find him. His brother, Alvin, likes to play close to the old army camp where Leora also collects her herbs sometimes. The party enquires Leora about the camp, who reveals that she doesn't go their anymore after encountering a horrid creature who gave her a nasty necrotic would that doesn't seem to heal. Worried the party sets out to find Alvin. In the abandoned camp the party sees the overgrown remnants of the once active battlements. After investigating the wreckage, the party determines that the camp is a left over fort from the war on the Reidtir kingdom 134 years ago. Though thoroughly investigating the area, no sign of a monster nor Alvin was found, until the professor saw a hidden trapdoor underneath a crate. behind it a small storage cellar was hewn out of the bedrock, in which the party found a hiding Alvin. Alvin, who seems to be in a fine state of being tells the party about his friend Dwayne who he meets here. Dwayne warned Alvin to hide out in the cellar because 'the enemies are coming'. Worried about this premonition, the party escorts Alvin out of the cellar. But before the party can exit the camp, they see a semi-translucent figure floating above the well... ### NPCs * **Edric Trailmen.** Innkeeper at the Hall of Beds.
